Healthcare professionals from across Ireland will gather at Croke Park, Dublin, on May 21st, 2026, for the Diabetes Ireland Conference and Exhibition (DICE 2026), the country’s premier event dedicated to diabetes care.

The conference offers a full day of expert presentations, practical updates, and networking opportunities, bringing together clinicians, researchers, and allied health professionals to explore the latest innovations shaping diabetes care.

This year’s keynote lecture will be delivered by Professor Helen Colhoun (Scotland), a global authority on the epidemiology and prevention of diabetes and its complications.

Using population studies, electronic health records, and advanced genomic and biomarker technologies, Professor Colhoun has contributed to major international clinical trials and has influenced clinical guidelines and health policy worldwide.

Delegates will also hear updates from Ireland’s national clinical leads on the National Diabetes Register, the Paediatric Diabetes Audit, and the National Diabetes Strategy, providing insight into initiatives aimed at improving patient care nationwide.

Specialist streams will cover adult, paediatric, and pregnancy-related diabetes care:

  • The adult stream will explore artificial intelligence in clinical practice, obesity, mental health, and precision medicine, with presentations from Prof Derek O’Keeffe, Prof Donal O’Shea, Prof Maartje De Witt (Netherlands), and Dr Pedro Cardoso.
  • The paediatric stream will focus on the wellbeing of children and families, addressing adolescence, Type 1 prevention strategies, and technology burnout. Speakers include Dr John Pemberton, Prof Fiona Campbell, Dr Sarina Millar, and national experts Dr Jules Thompson and Helen Fitzgerald.
  • The pregnancy stream will cover gestational diabetes, maternal and infant mental health, and interventions designed to improve outcomes for both mother and child.

Dr Kate Gajewska describes DICE as:

“A unique opportunity to learn from world-class speakers, exchange ideas with colleagues, and stay abreast of the most exciting research and innovations in diabetes care. With the launch of the National Diabetes Strategy this year, it is an essential event for all healthcare professionals working in diabetes.”
