Irish Heart Foundation announces Stroke Conference for healthcare professionals
Expert speakers in the field of stroke care will address the Irish Heart Foundation’s Stroke Study Day 2024 this month.
The conference, organised in conjunction with the Irish Heart Foundation’s Council of Stroke, will take place in-person in Croke Park on Friday, 15th November. It will bring together expertise across stroke prevention, treatment, rehabilitation and people who work in stroke care.
Dr Colm Henry, Chief Clinical Officer, HSE will deliver the opening address and delegates will hear from a range of international and local medical professionals.
Professor Hugh Markus, Professor of Stroke Medicine and Honorary, Neurology Unit, Cambridge Neurosciences will speak about new developments in small vessel disease. Dr Charlie Chung, Consultant Occupational Therapist at the NHS Lothian will discuss the digital pathway in life after stroke.
Delegates will receive an update on the Stroke Programme in Ireland and Northern Ireland, as well as hear about how to make the most of the stroke audit. Stroke in children, inflammation and if it is the new target for stroke prevention as well nutrition, decision-making and behaviour change post-stroke will all be addressed.
The Irish Heart Foundation’s patient support services will be discussed, stroke patient advocacy as well as hearing from a person who experienced stroke. There will be Q&A sessions and networking opportunities with professionals working across the stroke care community.
The conference promises a wonderful opportunity for healthcare professionals to deepen their knowledge, share best practices, and explore new approaches to stroke care.
