Irish Cancer Society’s ‘Living Well With and Beyond Cancer’ hybrid conference to take place in September

Host Dr Eddie Murphy to be joined by wide range of expert speakers – ‘Living Well With and Beyond Cancer’

The Irish Cancer Society’s national conference ‘Living Well With and Beyond Cancer’ is taking place both in-person and online on Saturday, 3rd September at the Clayton Hotel, Burlington Road, Dublin 4.

Clinical psychologist Dr Eddie Murphy is the host of the event, which brings together a wide range of speakers who will share their experiences, stories and expert knowledge on living well through a cancer diagnosis. For the first time, attendees can choose to attend the physical conference in Dublin or join remotely for the mix of presentations, interactive workshops and Q & A sessions.

The conference programme will include a variety of practical, emotional and wellbeing topics. Interactive workshop sessions include Eating Well after a Cancer Diagnosis, Cancer Services in Ireland, Advances in Cancer Treatments, Fear of Recurrence, Mindfulness and Benefits of Exercise throughout the Cancer Journey and much more.

Cancer patients and survivors, those who care for them, health care professionals and staff or volunteers from cancer support services are encouraged to sign up for this unique, free event.

Dr Eddie Murphy said, “I am looking forward to what will be a highly engaging and informative day. With almost 200,000 people living with and beyond cancer in Ireland, patient-focused events such as this offer invaluable tools and resources that can help them deal with the psychological, physical and emotional effects of cancer.”

The Irish Cancer Society’s acting Head of Support Services, Corrinne Hasson said, “The conference aims to provide information and support from the Society, the speakers and fellow survivors to enable people to live well after a cancer diagnosis.

The last year has been difficult for people affected by cancer and the uncertainty and isolation continue for many. The hybrid format means that attendees can experience the conference either in-person or online. It brings together survivors and those who have had a recent cancer diagnosis, as well as their carers, families and friends. We hope that attendees leave the conference feeling supported and aware of the services that are available to them, whatever stage they are at of their cancer journey.”

This year’s ‘Living Well With and Beyond Cancer’ conference is kindly supported by Access Foundation, Bristol Myers Squibb, Janssen Sciences Ireland, Pfizer and Roche.
