Lung cancer: The importance of the mediastinum and role of EBUS combined with EUS-B

Abstract: Lung cancer is a leading cause of morbidity and mortality across Europe. Prompt identification, diagnosis and staging and onward referral to management, is key to improving outcomes.

We present an overview of: General principles of staging lung cancer, the importance of accurately staging the mediastinum and hilum in lung cancer and the current and evolving role of a combined EBUS and EUS-B in lung cancer intervention.
