RCSI Study Links Social Media Use, Sexting and Body Dissatisfaction to Poor Mental Health in Irish Teenagers

A major RCSI study surveying more than 4,000 Irish teenagers has found that heavy social media use, body dissatisfaction and engagement in sexting behaviours are strongly associated with poorer mental health and higher risk of self-harm, particularly among girls. Published in the Irish Journal of Psychological Medicine, the research offers valuable insights for national policy, education and prevention strategies.

Solace Café has opened in Limerick City as a free, confidential, out-of-hours support service run by HSE Mid West and Limerick Mental Health Association. Adults can book one-hour sessions with trained support workers for peer, psychosocial and recovery support.

Behavioural Addiction On The Rise in Ireland – St John of God Annual Research Foundation Conference Hears

Leaders from the Limerick Health Equity Oversight Group met with the Mayor of Greater Manchester, Andy Burnham, and Manchester City Council Leader Bev Craig in Dublin to progress Ireland’s first Health Equity Region.
