Dr Ruth Delaney has joined Clinical Advisory Board of PrecisionOS

PrecisionOS Appoints Ruth Delaney, M.D., F.R.C.S., Orthopedic Surgeon and Associate Clinical Professor, University College, Dublin, Ireland, to Clinical Advisory Board

PrecisionOS has expanded its Clinical Advisory Board with the addition of Ruth Delaney, M.D., F.R.C.S., orthopaedic surgeon and Associate Clinical Professor, University College, Dublin, Ireland.

Delaney’s special interest is the shoulder, which is the entire focus of her practice. She will work with PrecisionOS to develop advanced virtual reality (VR) training in this interest area. She began her shoulder practice in Dublin at the Sports Surgery Clinic and Beacon Hospital. Delaney then opened the Dublin Shoulder Institute. She takes care of many high level athletes and is currently serving as shoulder consultant to Munster Rugby, a professional rugby team. She also addresses the needs of a variety of other types of complex degenerative shoulder problems.

An active researcher, Delaney won the Neer Award for her work on shoulder instability surgery. She was also the first surgeon in Ireland to perform a superior capsular reconstruction. Also also perform a pyrocarbon hemiarthroplasty and to use mixed reality technology for shoulder arthroplasty.

As a leading authority on the shoulder, Delaney is regularly invited to speak to international audiences. She has published extensively and currently serves as Deputy Editor for shoulder and elbow research for the Journal of the American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons.

Delaney is currently chairperson of the 2022 European Society for Surgery of the Shoulder and Elbow (ESSSE/SECEC) Congress. She is a founding committee member of the Irish Shoulder & Elbow Society (ISES). Delaney is also a member of such prestigious organizations as the American Shoulder and Elbow Surgeons (ASES).

Delaney obtained her M.D. from University College Cork, Ireland. She followed this with an orthopaedic residency at the Harvard Combined Orthopaedic Residency Program in Boston. She undertook additional training with a shoulder fellowship at Massachusetts General Hospital and Brigham and Women’s Hospital, as well as in Lyon and Annecy, France.
