These terms apply to your use of hospitalprofessionalnews.ie, including your HPN account, the digital magazine, our newsletter and printed magazine, comments and anything you send us. Please read them with our Privacy Policy, which explains how we handle personal information.
1. About these terms
Hospital Professional News (“HPN”, “we”, “us”) is published by IPN Communications Ltd. [To add before publishing: registered office address and company registration number.]
By using the website you agree to these terms. If you don’t agree, please don’t use the site. When you create an account you confirm that you have read and accept them.
2. Who HPN is for
HPN is a publication for healthcare professionals in Ireland. Our homepage, headlines and article previews are open to everyone. Full articles and the digital magazine are for verified healthcare professionals with an HPN account.
3. Your HPN account
- Accounts are for healthcare professionals and others working in healthcare. The information you give when you register must be true, accurate and kept up to date.
- We check every registration. We may ask for further proof that you are a healthcare professional, and we may decline a registration without giving a reason.
- Your account is personal to you. Keep your password secret and don’t share your login or let anyone else use your account. Tell us straight away if you think someone else has used it.
- We may suspend or close an account, or remove access to members’ content, if information given was false, if the account is shared, or if these terms are broken.
- You can close your account at any time by contacting us.
4. Our content and how you may use it
All articles, images, the digital magazine and other material on HPN are owned by IPN Communications Ltd or the people who license them to us, and are protected by copyright. The HPN name and logo are our trade marks.
You may, for your own personal and professional use:
- read and print articles;
- download one copy of each digital magazine issue for your own use;
- share links to our articles, including with the share buttons on the site.
You may not, without our written permission:

For permission to reuse our content, including reprints and licensing, please contact us.
5. Medical and professional information
HPN publishes news and information for healthcare professionals. It is not medical advice and is not a substitute for clinical judgement, current clinical guidelines or a medicine’s official product information (SmPC).
- Always check clinical, prescribing and product information against official and up-to-date sources before relying on it.
- Decisions about patient care remain the responsibility of the treating healthcare professional.
- We take care to be accurate, but information may change after publication, and we cannot guarantee that everything is complete, accurate or current.
- The views of contributors, interviewees and advertisers are their own and are not necessarily those of HPN.
6. Advertising, sponsored content and product news
HPN is supported by advertising. Adverts and sponsored content are labelled as such. Advertisers and sponsors are responsible for their own adverts and material, and their appearance on HPN is not an endorsement of any product or service.
Some adverts, including those for prescription medicines, are intended only for healthcare professionals. By confirming that you are a healthcare professional to view them, you confirm that this is true.
7. Comments and material you send us
When you comment on an article, or send us news, press releases, images or other material, you confirm that you have the right to share it and that it does not break anyone else’s rights. Please:
- be respectful and stick to the topic;
- never include information that could identify a patient;
- not post anything unlawful, defamatory, misleading, discriminatory or abusive;
- not use comments for advertising, spam or links to unrelated sites.
We may edit, refuse or remove comments and submissions at our discretion. You keep ownership of what you send us, but you allow us to publish, edit and reuse it on HPN, in the magazine and in our newsletter, with a credit where appropriate.
8. Newsletter and printed magazine
Our newsletter and printed magazine are free. We may change how often they are sent, their content or who is eligible, or stop them. You can unsubscribe from the newsletter at any time using the link in each email, and ask us to stop posting the printed magazine at any time.
9. Acceptable use
You must not misuse the website. In particular, you must not try to get around the access controls on members’ content, gain unauthorised access to the site or its systems, introduce viruses or harmful code, overload the site, or use it for anything unlawful.
10. Links to other websites
Articles and adverts may link to other websites. We are not responsible for their content, availability or privacy practices.
11. Changes and availability
We may update, change or remove any part of the website, including features for members, and we may suspend the site for maintenance. We try to keep HPN available, but we cannot guarantee that it will always be available or free of errors.
12. Our responsibility to you
HPN is provided free of charge, as it is. To the fullest extent the law allows, we are not responsible for any loss or damage arising from your use of the website or from relying on its content, including any loss of profit, data or business.
Nothing in these terms limits our liability for death or personal injury caused by our negligence, for fraud, or for anything else that cannot be limited under Irish law, and nothing affects your statutory rights as a consumer.
13. Changes to these terms
We may update these terms from time to time. The date at the top shows when they last changed. If we make an important change we will let members know. Continuing to use HPN after a change means you accept the updated terms.
14. Law and disputes
These terms are governed by the laws of Ireland, and the courts of Ireland have jurisdiction over any dispute about them. If you live elsewhere in the EU, you may also have rights under the law of your own country.
