The new state-of-the-art hospital is set to open to patients in September
Bon Secours Health System, Ireland’s largest independent hospital group, and Vhi, Ireland’s leading health insurer, today announced they have reached an agreement to provide coverage for Vhi members at the new Bon Secours hospital in Limerick. This collaboration marks a significant milestone in enhancing healthcare access and delivery in the Limerick and Mid-West region.
The agreement builds upon previous coverage commitments from Irish Life Health, Garda Medical Aid, Prison Officers Medical Aid, and Level Health, demonstrating strong support for the new hospital and its potential to transform local healthcare for their customers.
The state-of-the-art hospital in Limerick, set to open in September, will play a pivotal role in expanding healthcare capacity, offering a wide range of advanced medical services and treatments including a new cardiology service to include comprehensive diagnostics and the associated interventional cardiology suite. The partnership between Bon Secours Health System and Vhi reflects a shared commitment to providing world-class healthcare to the region.

Mark Byrne, Director of Healthcare Partnerships at Vhi, stated, “We are very pleased to partner with Bon Secours Limerick to provide Vhi members with access to enhanced hospital care, Cath Lab, a Hospital Access Unit, and a range of other supports in this new state of the art facility. This partnership complements our Vhi 360 Health Centre in Raheen, County Limerick which offers rapid access urgent care and health and well-being services to Vhi members. Vhi provides private health insurance to over 1.2 million members and in 2024 we paid €1.74 billion in medical-related claims.
