Mater Private Network Significantly Expands Spinal Surgery Offering in Dublin with €8 million investment

Mater Private Network today opens its ninth state-of-the-art operating theatre at their flagship hospital in Eccles Street, with an €8 million capital investment in a dedicated spinal surgery suite and associated technology. This expansion underscores Mater Private Network’s dedication to investing in new and innovative technologies, to pave the way for the future of private healthcare here in Ireland.

Equipped with the latest advancements in surgical technology, including surgical pendants, operating lights, and control systems, Theatre Nine’s Ultra Clean Canopy (UCC) over the operating table also ensures the highest air quality standards and improves microbiological cleanliness to protect the wound site from surgical infections. The development also includes the addition of new equipment stores, recovery beds, and enhanced staff facilities within the theatre department.  Aligned with this expansion in theatre capacity, five new spine consultants will join the Mater Private Network surgical team in 2024. These additions significantly increase resources and allow the team to treat more spine patients than ever before, especially those involving complex procedures requiring access to an on-site ICU.
